After a day of exploring as much of the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site as we could, I asked my husband if we could make the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site our next stop. Eleanor Roosevelt is someone I have adored because of her ground breaking efforts on behalf of women’s rights and human rights in general. She accomplished so much in her lifetime and I will forever be in awe of her and President Franklin D Roosevelt.
I knew that I wasn’t able to tour the home because it is closed until May but in the event that I wasn’t able to get back anytime soon, I had to explore every inch of the place. After taking a look at the home and the grounds, we ventured towards the Hyde Park Trail. This trail took us to Eleanor’s Walk and the Top Cottage Trail. Of course, we did both and got our fitness in for the day. Top Cottage was also closed for tours until May but we had to see it.
